Abstract
A nitrogen-14 magnetic resonance and spectrophotometric study of the cobalt(11)-triethylenetetramine (trien) system in acetonitrile solvent indicates the presence of the predominant species Co(CH3CN)62+ Co(trien)(CH3CN)n2+ where n = 1 or 2, Co2(trien)34+, and Co(trien)22+ in solution. The lability of CH3CN in the first coordination sphere is shown to be > 103 times that of CH3CN in the first coordination sphere of CO(CH3CX)62+ at 258 K.https://doi.org/10.1071/CH9720469
