Abstract
The hydrogenation of meso-acetoxyporphyrins which are unsubstituted in four neighbouring positions yields meso-acetoxychlorins. The degree of substitution and the size of each substituent determines the product ratio of meso-acetoxychlorin to meso-unsubstituted porphyrin. Attempts to obtain the meso-hydroxychlorin system by hydrolysis of the acetate were unsuccessful.https://doi.org/10.1071/CH9720201
