Halogenated terpenoids. V. Terpinolene tetrabromide

Abstract

The structures of two terpinolene tetrabromides have been determined and their interrelationship studied. A facile bromination of a cyclohexenyl system proceeding through an unstable conformer has been discovered. The incorporation of radioactive bromide into the intramolecular diaxial → diequatorial rearrangement of vicinal dibromides has been studied. Some steroidal vicinal dibromides have been reinvestigated.
