Chemistry of the Podocarpaceae. XXXI. Reactions of ring-A epoxy derivatives of 18-Norabieta-8,11,13-triene and 12-Methoxy-18-norpodocarpa-8,1 1,13-triene

Abstract

Products from the reaction of boron trifluoride and dimethyl sulphoxide on the 3α,4α-epoxy (7; 8), 4α,19-epoxy (9; 10), and 4α,5α-epoxy (11; 12) derivatives of both 18-norabieta-8,11,13-triene and 12-methoxy-18- norpodocarpa-8,11,13-triene are described. The mode of formation of the products is discussed, and a previous examination of the action of boron trifluoride in benzene on these epoxides is completed.
