Alkaloids of Zanthoxylum conspersipunctatum (Rutaceae): The structure of a new alkaloid isomeric with protopine

Abstract

Extraction of the bark of Zanthoxylum conspersipunctatum Merr. & Perry (Rutaceae) has given the known alkaloid α-allocryptopine (β- homochelidonine), the amide (±)-N-benzoyl-2-hydroxy-2- (4?methoxyphenyl)ethylamine (I), and hesperidin. A new alkaloid isomeric with protopine has been shown to be (II).
