Abstract
Structures are proposed for nickel gluconate Ni(C6H11O7)2,2H2O and nickel hydroxygluconate Ni2(OH)2(C6H10O7)22H2O on the basis of infrared spectra, visible reflectance spectra, magnetic properties, and thermal decomposition behaviour. The nickel(11) ion is present; in both cases in the high spin state and a distorted octahedral environment. The hydroxy compound is considered to be a polymer containing hydroxy and aquo bridges.https://doi.org/10.1071/CH9681205
