Abstract

Precipitation from homogeneous solution or by conventional means with 8-hydroxyquinoline in the presence of tartaric acid has been successfully employed for the determination of antimony. The complex produced corresponds to the formula SbOQ,2HQ. Antimony cannot be determined in the absence of tartaric acid, as the resulting compound SbQ3 is co-precipitated with antimony oxychloride. Thermo-gravimetric and spectroscopic studies were also carried out on the precipitates obtained.
