Abstract

Proton magnetic resonance spectrometry has been used to show that dimethylphenylaluminium and dimethyl-p-tolylaluminium dimers are held together by aryl bridges. Phenylethynyl groups serve as bridges in the dimer of dimethyl-(phenylethynyl)aluminium. Mixed aryl-methyl, phenylethynyl-methyl, and phenyl-phenylethynyl bridges have also been shown to exist.
