Bis-1,10-phenanthroline complexes of divalent ruthenium

Abstract

A series of divalent ruthenium complexes of the type cis-[RuX phen₂ py]²⁺ (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, py = pyridine, X = py, Cl, Br, I, N₃, NCS, NO₂, CN, NH₃, CH₃CN), have been isolated and characterized. The cation cis-[Ru phen₂ py₂]²⁺ has been resolved into its optical isomers from which the optically active monosubstituted complexes have been prepared.
