Abstract
The product of photosensitized irradiation of indene with ultraviolet light has been shown to be the head-to-head cis-anti-cis dimer (VII) by chemical conversion into one of the known photodimers of coumarin, which has structure (X). The indene photodimer has been converted by a stereospecific process to the lactone (XVI), which is identical with the photoadduct of indene and coumarin.https://doi.org/10.1071/CH9661455
