Abstract
As a further contribution to the study of the mode of formation of polycyclic aromatic compounds in cigarette tar, the pyrolysis of isoprene at 700º has been investigated. A complex tar containing many aromatic hydrocarbons was obtained and mechanisms for the formation of these compounds are discussed. Isoprene may be an important precursor of polynuclear hydrocarbons in cigarette tar.https://doi.org/10.1071/CH9661023
