Abstract
The rates of decomposition of diisopropyl ether at 423-487º have been measured. Propene and isopropanol (70-90%) and propane and acetone (10-30%) are the major products, and the production of the latter pair is significantly inhibited by isobutene. An interpretation in terms of a molecular reaction producing the first pair and a radical chain reaction producing all four is put forward.https://doi.org/10.1071/CH9660239
