Mono- and Bis-(2,2'-bipyridine) and (1,10-phenanthroline) chelates of ruthenium and osaium. III. Mono chelates of bivalent, tervalent, and quadrivalent osmium

Abstract

Osmium complexes of the type (BH)[OsX₄B], K[OsX₄B], [OSX₄B]⁰, [OsX₃pyB]⁰, [OsX₃H₂OB]⁰, [OspysB]^+/2+, [Ospy₄B]^2+/3+, [OsX₃py₃]⁰, [OsX₂py₄]⁰, [OsX₂acaB]⁰, [Osaca₂B]^0/+, [OsX₂glyB]⁰, [Osgly₂B]⁺, and [OsBen₂]²⁺ have been prepared, where B = 1,10-phenanthroline or 2,2'-bipyridine, py = pyridine, aca = acetylacetonate, gly = glycinate, en = ethylenediamine, and X = Cl or Br. They are generally inert to dissociation of their ligands and to disproportionation. The existence of the possible isomeric forms among the complexes is discussed.
