Alkaloids of Ochrosia poweri Bailey. II. The 2-acylindole stem-bark bases

Abstract

Stem-bark of Ochrosia poweri Bailey furnished isoreserpiline, elliptamine, and three new indole alkaloids, ochropamine (C₂₂H₂₆O₃N₂), ochropine (C₂₃H₂₈O₄N₂), and powerchrine (C₂₂H₂₆O₃N₂). Ochropamine and ochropine are 2-acylindole derivatives closely related to the alkaloid vobasine. Their structures have been assigned as (XVI) and (XVII), respectively, by means of a combination of chemical and spectroscopic techniques.
