A synthesis of 1,3-Di-O-(glycerol-3'-phosphoryl) glycerol

Abstract

2-O-Benzylglycerol was treated with 1,2-O-isopropylidene-L-glycerol 3-dihydrogen phosphate and dicyclohexylcarbodi-imide in dry pyridine. Deacetonation and ion-exchange chromatography of the reaction products yielded the 2-O-benzyl ether of 1,3-di-O-(glycerol-3'-phosphoryl)glycerol, from which the benzyl group was removed by catalytic hydrogenation.
