Abstract
Selenium dehydrogenation of a diterpenoid compound followed by vapour-phase chromatography of the crude products gives a pattern of peaks which is characteristic of the basic carbon skeleton of the diterpene. In favourable circumstances this pattern may be used to determine the carbon skeleton and the position of functional groups in the parent compound.https://doi.org/10.1071/CH9630225
