Abstract

Leaves of Ochrosia poweri Bail. furnished reserpine, isoreserpiline, and four new indole alkaloids, elliptamine (C24H30O5N2), powerine (C21H26O4N2), poweridine (C24H30O5N2), and poweramine (C23H30O4N2), together with traces of others as yet uncharacterized. Powerine is an alkali-labile alkaloid which appears to be a derivative of 5-methoxyindole. Poweridine is probably a methoxy-O-acetylyohimbine.
