Abstract
Oxidation of jaconecic acid by nitric acid yields four acid products, which have been separated by a combination of partition chromatography on silica gel, and paper chromatography. Two of these fragments have been identified as αβ-dimethylmalic acid and oxalic acid, whilst the other two are dibasic acids having the formulae C9H14O6 and C9H12O7. These findings support the structure previously assigned to jaconecic acid.https://doi.org/10.1071/CH9560521
