New flavones from Pongamia pinnata (L)Merr. II. The synthesis of compounds 'C' and 'D'

Abstract

The furanoflavones, " C " and " D " of Pongamia pinnata (L.) Merr., now named gamatin and pinnatin, were identified by synthesis as 5-methoxy-3",4"-methylenedioxy-furano-(3',2',6,7)-flavone and 5-methoxyfurano-(3',2',6,7)-flavone respectively. In the course of the work 5-methoxy-3",4"-methylenedioxyfurano-(2',3',7,8).flavone and 5-methoxyfurano-(2',3',7,8)-flavone were also synthesized.
