Abstract
Methods for the preparation of mono-, di-, and tri-isoamyl chlorsilanes, and the monocetyl chlorsilane have been developed. Molecular layers of the mono- and di-ethyl and mono- and di- soamyl silicones on various metal surfaces have been tested for their boundary lubricating properties. The layers have been shown to be excellent lubricants, with unusual thermal stability and resistance to wear.
