Abstract
Gold shadowing reveals considerable details of surface modifications in damaged wool fibres. when viewed by transmitted light in the optical microscope. The method is more rapid and less likely to introduce artefacts than the replica techniques currently employed in electron microscopy. New evidence of the nature of the inner surface of the cuticle is also described.https://doi.org/10.1071/BI9550129
