Abstract
Lucilia cuprina larvae possess two pairs of malpighian tubules. One pair, having a yellow appearance, is restricted to the posterior end of the body. The other pair commences at the posterior end of the body and rims forwardsas far as the brain and then backwards on either side of the gut to enter itby a common duct. Whereas the ascending regions are greatly enlarged andhave a white appearance caused by many small spherical granules in thelumen, the descending regionsĀ· have the usual yellow appearance. The tubulesare held in place at several points by fine strands of connective tissue.https://doi.org/10.1071/BI9500076
