Abstract

The nematode tribe Zoniolaiminea (Popova, 1952) is revised. Twenty-two species are recognized as valid. The genera recognized are: Zoniolaimus Cobb, 1898; Wallabinema, gen. nov.; Thallostonema, gen. nov.; and Tethystrongylus, gen. nov. Buccostrongylus Johnston & Mawson, 1939 is maintained as a synonym of Zoniolaimus. The genera Labiostrongylus Yorke & Maplestone, 1926; Parazoniolaimus Johnston & Mawson, 1939; Potorostrongylus Johnston & Mawson, 1940; and Dorcopsinema Mawson, 1977 are excluded from the Zoniolaiminea and a new tribe, the Labiostrongylinea, trib. nov., is created for them. Valid species of Zoniolaimus recognized are: Z. setifera (Cobb, 1898) and Z. buccalis (Johnston & Mawson, 1939). The following species are described as new: Z. mawsonae, sp. nov.; Z. elegans, sp. nov.; Z. petrogale, sp. nov.; Z. dendrolagi, sp, nov.; Z. niuginiensis, sp, nov.; and Z. occidentalis, sp, nov. The genus Wallabinema, gen. nov. is described as new, with W. australis (Johnston & Mawson, 1939), comb. nov. (type species); W. labiatus (Johnston & Mawson, 1939), comb. nov.; W. gallardi (Johnston & Mawson, 1939), comb. nov.; W. cobbi (Kung, 1948), comb. nov.; and three new species: W. parvispicularis, sp. nov.; W. tasmaniensis, sp. nov.; and W. thylogale, sp. nov. The genus Thallostonema, gen. nov. is described as new with T. setifer (Johnston & Mawson, 1939), comb. nov. (syn. Zoniolaimus chaetophorus Johnston & Mawson, 1949) and the new species: T. kirkpatricki, sp. nov.; T. lichtenfelsi, sp. nov. (type-species); T. thylogalarum, sp. nov.; T. queenslandensis, sp. nov.; and T. rara, sp, nov. The genus Tethystrongylus, gen. nov. is described with a single new species, T. coronatus, sp. nov.
