A revision of the Australian species of Austrolimnius (Coleoptera: Elmidae).

Abstract

Keys and descriptions are provided for the Australian species of Austrolimnius. Previously, 12 species of the genus have been described. Here 40 new species and two new subspecies are described, all from Victoria and New South Wales. Species of the genus also occur in South and Central America, and the significance of this discontinuous distribution is discussed.
