We are very sad to report that Dr John Furler has resigned his position as an Associate Editor of the Australian Journal of Primary Health. John has had a long association with the journal and has made a major contribution in this time. John started his formal role with the journal as a guest editor in 2004. With Elizabeth Harris, he edited a special issue, Taking a systematic approach to addressing health inequality in Primary Health Care. John has been a consistent supporter of the journal and a hard-working Associate Editor in spite of significant commitments as both a GP in community health and an academic. John has held NHMRC and Primary Health Care Research Evaluation and Development (PHCRED) Fellowships, and been a Chief Investigator on several large NHMRC-funded trials of complex intervention in primary care in the field of diabetes. A recent major achievement of John’s was the Australasian Association for Academic Primary Care (AAAPC) Most Distinguished Paper Award at the 2016 Primary Health Care Research and Information Service conference.

It has been a pleasure working with John over all these years and he will be missed by all of us on the Editorial team. We wish him well in his future pursuits and know that he will continue as an active supporter of the journal.
