Cirolanidae (Crustacea : Isopoda) of Australia: diagnoses of Cirolana Leach, Metacirolana Nierstrasz, Neocirolana Hale, Anopsilana Paulian & Debouteville, and three new genera—Natatolana, Politolana and Cartetolana

Abstract

The taxonomy of Cirolana and a description and diagnosis to the genus are given. The genera, Metacirolana, Neocirolana and Anopsilana are defined. and three new genera. Nutarolana, Politolana, Curtetolana created. A list of the species of each genus is provided. Those species that cannot be referred to any of the given genera are retained for the present within Cirolana. All but eight species previously placed in Cirolana have been reallocated. The relationships and distributions of the genera are discussed; and synonymies are provided.
