Abstract
A series of drogued floats was released at the entrance to Peel Inlet and the limit of their penetration into the inlet was found to be 1.75 ± 0.15 km. We show that this compares favourably with a model based on the upstream propagation of a frictionless tide and use this model to discuss the exchange of the inlet waters due to barometric variations.
