Reactions of Transition Metal σ-Acetylide Complexes. XIII. Alkylation and Related Reactions

Abstract

A series of 20 cationic vinylidene complexes of ruthenium and osmium [M(CCRR′)(L)(L′)(η- C₅H₅)]⁺ (R′ = Me, Ph, C₆H₄F-4, C₆F₅, (CH₂)₂C₂H; R′ = Me, CH₂Ph, CH₂CH=CH₂, CH₂C₂CH, (CH₂hBr; L, L′=PPh₃, CNBU^T, dppm, dppe; not all combinations), [{Ru (CCRCH₂-)(PPH₃)₂( η- C₅H₅)₂]²⁺ and [CH₂{ CPhCRu (PPh₃)₂(η-C₅H₅)]₂]²⁺ have been obtained from reactions between the metal acetylide complexes and the appropriate organic halides.
