Abstract

Nitration of toluene by acetyl nitrate has been conclusively shown not to lead to the formation of phenylnitromethane as previously claimed. Implications of this result on the k_T/k_B ratio are discussed. The thermolysis reactions of phenylnitromethane have been investigated.
