Further observations on the occurrence of metastable phases during thermal decomposition of sulphates

Abstract

Observations of the occurrence of metastable phases in the BeSO₄-H₂O system have substantiated earlier findings relating to the Zr(SO₄)₂-H₂O system. The results have provided further evidence that the formation of polymorphic compounds during thermal decomposition processes is controlled by the vapour pressure of the volatile component in the relevant region of the particular phase system.
