Abstract

The Dibbler, Parantechinus apicalis, had not been seen for 83 years when it was found in 1967 at Cheyne Beach in the south of Western Australia. Nine Dibblers have been captured there, the last two in 1976. Further attempts to locate populations of the Dibbler at Cheyne Beach and in other regions by trapping and by using the technique of identification of hair in predator scats, have been unsuccessful.
